Integrating a frameless motor

The motor and its host structure need to be considered together.

Engineering note / 4 October 2026

Start with the duty

Lin Engineering describes frameless motors for incorporating rotor and stator directly into the system. Give the manufacturer the torque-speed profile, continuous and intermittent operating periods and power supply constraints.

Define the host interfaces

State the mounting envelope, load and bearing arrangement. Include the available heat-removal path, together with feedback, brake and transmission requirements. These are design inputs, not implied features of every motor.

Consider the integration route

Lin describes DriveCore housed motor and actuator solutions based on frameless technology, with configurable options. Compare a frameless approach and a housed approach against your interfaces and project needs; confirm feasibility and performance with Lin.

This note helps prepare a technical brief. Product performance and application suitability require project-specific confirmation.
